Cactus, which you probably know from its Alki, Madison Park, Kirkland or South Lake Union locations, is coming to Bellevue in June 2013. Just in time for summer sun when chips, guac and margs become a category of its own on the food pyramid (or MyPlate as it’s referred to nowadays).

The family owned and local southwestern kitchen and bar is taking over the 6,400 square foot space previously occupied by Z’Tejas in Bellevue Square according to Kemper Development Company, owners of The Bellevue Collection. Z’Tejas, also a southwestern-themed restaurant, will be closing its doors on Jan. 31.

“We love what Bellevue has become and we were excited with the prospect of being part of the ongoing transformation,” said Marc Chatalas, co-owner of Cactus.
Marc, who owns Cactus with his brother, Bret, said this latest location of Cactus will also continue the restaurant’s tradition of engaging with its guests outside of the typical restaurant experience. “We post recipes and ‘how-to’ videos on our Facebook page and are passionate about tequila. We look for chances to educate and have fun teaching our guests. The Bellevue location will provide us with the room we need to meet and have fun with our guests.”
Sad news for Z’Tejas who has been in Bellevue Square since 2001, but it’s hard not to be excited for more access to award-winning margs (plural!) from Cactus. Cacti may be able to go for years without water, but us thirsty folk need refreshments every few hours.
